How To Remain Consistent Across Your Social Media Platforms By Frances Barrett

Frances Barrett is the Director of The Social Brain , a social media marketing agency who help their clients’ businesses grow in visibility and sales, through consistent content.

It’s tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme that social media marketers, experts and gurus have told business owners to ‘stay consistent’ on their social media platform. But, one of the most common phrases that Frances hears from business owners globally, is that they were ‘good for two weeks and then something came up’. And if your job isn’t social media marketing and you are wearing more than one hat to drive your business, how can you ensure that your business continues to be visible, even when your attention is redirected?

Here’s Frances’ top tips to keeping consistent on your socials, if you are managing it for yourself:

Commit to the amount of time per week you can spend on your social media marketing.

This doesn’t have to be an ‘all day, everyday’ task but, in the first instance, put an hour in your working week and see how much you can achieve in one hour. Everybody works at a different pace, but be intentional with what you need to get done: research, create, write or analyse the insights.

Just focus on one or two platforms

If money was no object and you could outsource your socials, you could choose to be absolutely everywhere - but it’s not necessary. Research where your ideal customer hangs out and hang out there too!

Don’t post everyday

If your timetable doesn’t have the time to nurture your posts with engagement (inbound or outbound) or if you are scraping the barrel for content ideas, don’t post everyday. Frances recommends a minimum of three times a week though - any less and your posts will just get lost in the crowd.

Answer the questions your audience are actually asking

Received an email with a question? That’s content. Stood up at a networking event and delivered an awesome pitch that resulted in looooads of discovery calls? Repeat it across the social networks. This doesn’t have to be a reinvention of the wheel - and keep making notes.

If you can’t do it, outsource to someone who can!

There are tonnes of social media experts who can create a strategy to complement your business goals and get your till ringing. The Social Brain offer a For The Day service, where they create 8 weeks of content by 5pm on the same day (based on 3 posts per week). Book in a chat with Frances to see if this option would work for your business and her next available day.
