Horizon Europe enables The Floow to support safer road programmes around the world

Horizon Europe enables The Floow to support safer road programmes around the world

The Floow, a leading provider of telematics and insurance technology solutions, has been awarded global AiRAP accreditation, enabling the company to supply aggregated traffic and behavioural data in more than 140 countries. The milestone is a direct result of The Floow’s participation in Horizon Europe, the world’s largest research and innovation funding programme, which has helped the company evolve from an insurance telematics innovator into a global provider of road safety intelligence.

Horizon Europe funding has allowed The Floow to collaborate with world-class experts across Europe and build close partnerships with UK charities the Road Safety Foundation and iRAP. Together, these collaborations have enabled The Floow to translate mobility data and behavioural analytics originally developed for the insurance sector into new tools that support road safety, transport planning, intelligent transport systems and public policy - opening up new markets, new products and accelerating commercial growth.

With AiRAP accreditation now in place, The Floow's technology - which analyses billions of miles of mobility data from opt-in connected vehicles, smartphones and telematics devices -can be applied to road safety programmes worldwide, turning raw data into actionable insights on driving behaviour, crash risk and wider mobility patterns. The UK's Safer Roads Fund is a flagship example of this approach in action: launched by the Department for Transport in 2016, it uses iRAP-ratings and real-world behavioural data to target England's highest-risk local A-roads, and is estimated to prevent 2,700 deaths and serious injuries, deliver £1.25 billion in value of prevention over 20 years, and generate £5.30 in societal benefit for every £1 invested.

Dr. Sam Chapman, Co-Founder and Director of The Floow, said: " We are proud to receive accreditation to support programmes that are helping to save lives and make roads safer around the world. Our participation in Horizon Europe has played an important role in helping us expand our capabilities beyond insurance telematics, working alongside leading organisations across Europe to develop new approaches to mobility and road safety analytics. We are committed to providing the data, technology and insights needed to create safer roads and ultimately reduce the human and societal cost of road traffic collisions for communities around the world. The success of the Safer Roads Fund demonstrates the power of combining robust data with evidence-led intervention."
