Without realising it, everyone has their own unique “personal” working style. The question isn’t whether they have it or not; it’s how well their personal working style fits the “new” hybrid workplace.
Whether they are a freelancer, business owner or entrepreneur, we all have a concept of how others do business. Their work as a copywriter, virtual assistant, graphic designer, architect, café owner or stylist, among other things means they have their own way of working, which benefits them and adapts to the “new normal” of hybrid working.
So, what are hybrid workplaces and what is their working style? How can they find their own working style to fit a hybrid workplace, if they don’t believe they have one as an entrepreneur?
Well, here goes… Many people often feel like focusing on money will corrupt their creativity and business mindset or that they aren’t good at making money, but the truth is we can be good at both. For many people to succeed at that, they must work in a way that suits them, which will bring out the best in them and make them more productive for their business and day-to-day tasks, plus, be able to adjust to the “new normal” of hybrid workplaces too.
The truth is we can be good at it and we have to be good at it because our freedom is at stake… Our freedom to create, to influence, and to use the power of money, to change the very thing that keeps creators and business owners broke to begin with. Make your business stand out
Your mindset is influenced by where you work, and this extends to your online business. It’s not about bricks and mortar or if the place is Instagrammable, which is always a plus. It’s about the environment, atmosphere, location and if it brings out the best in you when you are calm, focused, and cheerful in what you’re doing, to deliver results for your clients.
The basic problem with working in an office, is you’re just not in control of your work environment and we’ve all realised this more so since Covid19. Some people choose to not even have a home or work base, they’re nomads. There are new places every day, week or month to work at, locally for now. So the choice is yours. You may want to work at home or at a café, juice bar, pub, 4-5* hotel or the obvious place a co-working space.
Corporate style business or creative
Know what your business is. Despite the fact that over 70% of businesses have gone online since the outbreak, Is it a corporate style business or a creative business or both? Decide which one, as that will lead you to which co-working spaces or areas you should be at.
All co-working spaces charge but free spaces are available, as many bricks and mortar businesses need to look busy which will draw in the customers and clients for them. Knowing your business style can help you network and get new clients, because it will reveal the oppurtunities that could come your way.
You want to be local, so does your customers or clients
Go to your local co-working or free spaces in areas that achieve the corporate or creative business environment and atmosphere you need, that you would get if you were doing a 9am-6pm job in an office. When you’re an employee, sometimes you go to the company’s office 2 to 3 times a week and the other days you work from home, that is the “new” hybrid working but for freelancers and entrepreneurs, you can decide where you want to work, for how long and on what days.
Your working style
Working style is different for all people. No two people are the same. Maybe for you it’s waking up at 6am, reading the bible and praying. 7pm, you check your emails, have breakfast and have a walk outside or run. 9pm you’re back home and get dress and by 11am, you meet up with your freelance bestie and you both work at a 4-5* hotel, then from 4.30pm you head home. During the day you do 1 hour of social media, the next few hours you deal with your client projects and have your virtual business meetings (some in person now) and that’s it for the day. You decide what works best for you!
Empower yourself
The advantage of creating your own working style is that, overtime, you will know what works best for you, so that you become the most productive every day and makes you achieve the best results for your business and clients.
Know that when you empower yourself, you start to believe your worth more and more and won’t negotiate on price/ charges for your offers or products. Realise, you are not just being compensated for the time that you work on a project, you’re being compensated for everything you’ve learned and everything you’ve done over the years, that make you excellent at what you do. So keep believing in yourself and choose the right space to work at, because you always need to be in the right frame of mind to work
