Many of us want to improve our lives so that we are getting the most from our time here. You can proactively make several small changes in your daily thinking and habits that can radically improve what you get out of your life over time.
Try doing more of these simple tricks and steps to be more productive, feel happier, be more efficient and get more out of your life as advised by Lynsey Suzanne Trehane.
Get up earlier
We’ve all heard of the saying ‘the early bird catches the worm’ but actually, those who start their day earlier are often more productive and more focussed.
Start by trying to get up 30 minutes earlier than you do currently, if you struggle to get up, try putting your alarm on the other side of the room or going to bed half an hour earlier so you're less likely to hit the snooze button. Use that time to meditate, exercise or plan your day ahead.
Stretch the boundaries of what you find comfortable.
Research suggests that a certain degree of stress helps us to be happier, more productive and more efficient. If you’re someone who likes to stick to what they know and with what you feel comfortable doing, try pushing yourself out of that comfort zone more regularly, by doing things you may typically avoid or think you can't do. It allows you to understand what you are really capable of, grow as an individual and become the best version of yourself.
Focus on the positive
Bad days happen to everyone. But using your energy to find the silver lining in every negative situation can help you maintain a positive attitude throughout life and improve brain health. Positive emotions can broaden your sense of possibility, allowing you to be more open minded in other areas of your life.
Put an emphasis on health
The world’s a busy place to be right now, and more often than not, we make everyone and everything else a priority before putting ourselves first. We only have one body so we need to take care of it!
Doing more of the simple things like moving more, practising good sleep hygiene, making healthier nutrition choices and not ignoring signs of stress or poor health can make a huge difference to what we get out of life.
Those who exercise regularly, eat well and prioritise sleep often have more energy, are less stressed and feel more prepared to take on day to day life. Even as little as fitting in a 15 minute workout everyday and making smart food swaps will have a huge overall impact on your life within a matter of weeks.
Be present in the moment
It’s extremely easy to get caught up reminiscing about the past or focussed on the future, so much so that we fail to stop and appreciate the here and now. Try to soak in as much of today as you possibly can, enjoying the little moments like laughter, sunrises and nature.
Try to redirect your mental energy to avoid worrying about the future or dwelling on things that have happened in the past. It’s not often an easy step, but learning how to live in the present moment is an essential ingredient to getting the most out of life.
